I have bought myself a copy of Office mac 200 H&S edition, I have had 3 attempts at installing it today, all of which result in:
"Microsoft Office did not install properly" and it asks that I remove and re-install office. Which I have tried.

I previously had a copy of the trial version of Office, but I removed this from my system 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

I am installing from a DVD and not a downloaded image.

Thanks

Sorted it at last. Despite having uninstalled the trial version, this file was left behind -
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/Microsoft Office 2008 settings.plist

I deleted it and removed and re-installed Office 2008 and it all works now!

You would think the Office 2008 installer would alert you to the presence of this file if it was going to cause a problem.
