Hi,

This morning I was plotting some data in a basic line chart and I noticed that it is no more possible to give the range data for labeling the x-axis.
This is the "select data" window in the new version:

In Excel 2004 there was another field to select the data range for the horizontal axis. Why is it no more there?? How can I tell Excel to put something different from the default 1, 2, 3, 4,... numbers in the x-axis?

:)
Thank you!

Apparently there is no way to add custom X-axis labels retroactively. That's yet another thing the morons who made Excel decided wasn't needed anymore. It would seem they gave short shrift to charting in Excel2008.

The only way to add them is to include them when you're making the graph. That is, have a row of text on top of your values and then select the whole thing...which doesn't work well for some data layouts

Yes.. that's weird.
I think (and I hope) they will include the missing option in the next update of Office!

Thank you for replying,
Lap.
