Does anyone have issues having the updates take? I downloaded the update and when I go to install it on hard disk, it says it's not on the hard disk...when it clearly is. I had that issue in the past, had to unload the program, reinstall it, then download the updates for it to work. I don't want to have to do this every time.

Are you using the built in updater? If not try that instead. Run any Office 2008 app and go to help and click on 'check for updates'. That will bring up MS office updater.

The only problem I have is once it's done downloading the up and goes to install the update, it keeps telling me to close all office programs. When the only thing up is the updater, so you may have to close that for it to finish.

After Microsoft AutoUpdate downloads the software, the built-in MacOS X Installer installs the software. In its infinite wisdom, Microsoft made MAU incompatible with Installer. Shutdown MAU and the update will proceed as normal.
