I HEAVILY use Outlook & Word so those apps have to be flawless as they are in ML.
Experience has been mixed under prior releases of OSX if you read prior threads. No problems here on Mavericks but I didn't have problems in ML, Lion, or SL.

outlook doesnt work for me, when trying to setup an account, it just freezes. Have to force quit each time, restarted multiples times still no dice.

Create a new Identity and see if you can enter the account.

It's unclear if Outlook opens and if you have data under "On My Computer" folders. If you do, you can move to the new Identity. How to move your data to a new Identity

BTW, there are several duplicate fonts in the Microsoft font folder. Apple has newer versions. Run Font Book then delete font caches after removing duplicate fonts.

Ditto

The entire suite works perfectly. And since it is installed on about a billion business computers worldwide, I'm sticking with it.

I'm having nightmares with Outlook 2011. I have 11 shared calendars of colleagues which I need to access regularly. We use Office 365 and initially the upgrade to Mavericks was fine but now I can't rely on the desktop and have to use the web interface for email and calendars. When I look at the 'progress' window in Outlook, it simply lists everyone's calendar with each one saying 'Server busy. Waiting' and the candy striped progress bars, all stationary. I've rebuilt the database, deleted the Office 365 account and redownloaded, restarted, rebooted, etc.
Anyone else seeing this?

I've had to re-enter my registration code multiple times after upgrading to Mavericks. Everything had been good since.

This has started happening to my Office 2011. At first it was every three days, now it asks me every time I start Excel. I have noticed that there is a folder in Trash called "Recovered Files" and inside there are two files:

MerpAD365
OfficeSetupSemaphore

Both Files have Zero Bytes

I don't know if this is anything to do with it. They appear to be created each time I open any Office 2011 applications.

However, I could do with not having to keep entering my Key every time I use Excel. Anyone got any ideas?

Create a new Identity and your Exchange account should work properly.

NEVER rebuild an Identity with Exchange. Bad stuff can upload to server deleting/corruption server copy. Start over in a new Identity. If you have POP accounts and other data stored under "On My Computer" folders, see directions here:

How to move your data to a new Identity

Pfft. I have 900 Mac users going against an Exchange 2013/Office 365 hybrid model, we rebuild identities all the time and have yet to see what you claim. I'd know, because it would get escalated to me to fix. :(

Office 2011 working fine with Mavericks. Only issue I had was than on migration, it lost the product code and of course, I have no idea where the CD was. Ended up having to get my brilliant Apple Man to fix it. Working great though.

Office 11 all works as should after upgrade to Mavericks, I use excel more than anything else and the only issue I've noticed is that the filters take a few seconds to appear when selected and scrolling is a bit delayed and shaky at times, apart from that thats all I've noticed

I had no problems running office 2011 on mavericks, but office for mac is crap compared with office for pc. The viewing options and features are much more limited. It feels clunky.

Well, Office 2004 was horrible, if memory serves. :D At least, in my opinion it was. Or am I thinking of 2007?... Blecch. I'd honestly prefer to step away from Office altogether, but there have been advantages to keeping my work email vastly separated from my personal stuff.

One of my coworkers was on the Mavericks beta and let me know how Office was doing, so I was reasonably confident in upgrading.

I have updated to Mavericks and now my Office 2011 takes 1:21 minutes to open a file for the first time, after this it is quicker. Can this possiblly be right?

Office 2011 in Mavericks

I use Outlook and Word daily. Excel with extensive VBA automation is my most used app on my Mac. I use PPT on occasion. I am quite happy with the whole thing, with one caveat.

I do have some file lock issues. Most of my files are stored on cloud, SMB shares, or Sharepoint. I often get warning that a file is in use and is opened read-only, but the last user of the file was myself. Apparently, there is a failure to remove the hidden file when done editing.

The fix is to go into the directory in Terminal, and find the hidden file and remove it with rm -rf ~$FILENAME command. This is a little tedious, but with GoToShell it is fairly easy to get to the folder.

I don't seem to have the issue on locally stored files, but most of my files on shared so I run into this often.

Did you notice if it was updating the font menu in the Office startup window? I find that to be the only delay in starting up Office, happens whenever I add fonts. The time sounds about right if that's the case, and if it's just the first time it should be fine.

Unless you're saying it takes that much time for any & every document you open for the first time, i.e. open up "Example Paper.doc" five times over the course of a week with the first being longer, and then later that week you open "Example Paper 2.doc" likewise?

Don't they call that Office 365, just like Adobe CS6 is now Adobe CC.

No problems here with MS Office 2011.

No, Office 365 is the subscription model.

It's like how you can get 365 for Windows or you can buy 2013 alone.

Hi,

My Outlook 2011 for Mac is super slow in syncing emails. I have 2000 items in my inbox and few sub-folders (not part of the Inbox folder) containing 1000 items each. When I send an email it gets sent instantly and when I receive emails that match rules, they get quick as well. It is only un-categorized emails that go to main Inbox are really delayed by 30min and more.

I can see constant messages at the bottom like: "Updating local folder" and "Determining changes"

Let me clarify few things before anyone suggests a fix:

1. It's not a network issue. Other devices on same network work fine.

2. I tried creating and new Identity and reducing number of items in inbox and sub-folders

3. I have late 2013 rMBP with 2.8ghz i7 with 16GB ram and pcie SSD so hardware is not a problem here.

What could be the problem? It's really annoying as I simply cannot use it for work.

Thanks

Dominik

Can't open accounts in outlook 2011 Maverick

When I try to open my accounts window in Outlook 2011 I just get a big blank window...no account data. I'm running the latest version of Outlook 14.3.9. Outlook is running fine but I'm stuck if I need to open a new account. Help!!

Office 2011 working well post Maverick but frustrating that I can no longer sync Outlook diary and contacts via Itunes.

It costs money but greater functionality comes when you sync using www.companionlik.com and use Devonote as a OneNote alternative.

Using IMAP? Try POP instead.

For me is very very slow, word App always needs like 8-9 sec to show the tab "Document elements" which is very annoying considering my particular work in this app. I tried to find a way to reduce the time to shos this particular tab(the rest work fast) but i have no luck.
