Office 2016 / EL Capitan don't play well together

Interesting. Just noticed that the little green button doesn't go full screen. Time to update, way to go Microsoft!
have you tried using the excel for split screen mode? In my experience it always crashes.
Held the green button in excel to enter split screen, selected the second application and then used them both for a few minutes switching back and forth.
I think other users might be better at helping with that since I'm not sure. I would probably suggest updating office or os x to the latest versions. If that didn't work I would delete the apps and re-install them.
I reverted to Office 2011 and it's been working well, except for regular crashes in PowerPoint when double-clicking a slide thumbnail to view the slide. I fixed it by removing a program called BetterSnapTool. I reported the bug to them, but did not receive a response.
I went back to Outlook 2011, but the rest of Office 2016 seems to work well for me. Be sure you have the latest version of El Capitan installed.
Don't get me wrong, OL 2016 worked well for me under El Capitan, however, many of the new features I don't need, i.e. Exchange features, enhanced calendar features. While lots of new features were added to OL 2016, some features were left out... notably Apple Script... essential to me, I use SpamSieve. I realize there is a work around for this, but I would rather not be forced into work arounds. Additionally, I prefer the OL 2011 interface over the OL 2016. The remainder of the suite works exceptionally well and I use most of it every day.
So I tried downloading & installing Office 2016 (using my Office 365 subscription) today on my MacBook Air running El Capitan (10.11.3), and after what appeared to be a successful installation, Word & Excel wouldn't even launch! I got an error like the following:
Then I went online and found that lots of people are apparently having issues with the El Capitan/Office 2016 combination.
Any suggestions for me? (For now I've gone ahead and deleted Office 2016 and am back to using Office 2011).

If that happened to me, I'd probably call MS. I am having no problem running O2016-365 on either of my older Macs, both running EC.
I think I've sorted it out. I'm also running VMWare Fusion (8.1.0) on this Mac, and it has settings that put Windows app launchers in the Mac's Application folder, and seems to permit launching Windows apps from the Mac side and vice-versa. I turned all those features off (since I don't use them anyway), which removed some possibly-conflictingly-named apps from my Mac Applications folder. Then I reinstalled Office 2016 (Mac). They still wouldn't launch correctly after installation, but after a reboot of the computer they seem to launch and run OK (at least I was able to run Word & Excel for a few seconds each without a problem).

Hey, Has anyone had a problem using the Multitasking feature in the new Outlook?
I can view multiple emails on my iMac 21" but i cant do the same on my Macbook pro 13".
Can't find a single article talking about this so is it just a bug or a common problem?
I was hoping an answer to my issue here :-/ I have microsoft office 2011 and I have the same message "not available in split view". I can't use word neither Excel that way. What should we do ?
What version of Word are you using? (from the About Word window)

If you still have the same after updating, it might even be OTHER software that you have installed.
This being Microsoft ( ), have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling Office 2011 from your original installer?
And, then be sure to try the Help menu/Check for Updates to make sure that your Office is fully up-to-date.

Same here, it's getting better and better with every new build/update.
Now if they only made a Visio version for OS X ....
