Hi all

Got a new MacBook base model, and have put office 2016 on it.

I've noticed that office apps use a very high amount of CPU for basic tasks like editing a normal 3000 word essay? On my other Macs, office 2011 only pushes the CPU to about 10/20%, but office 2016 pushes CPU to the high 20s/30s and sometimes even the 50s.

Anyone else noticing this? I've gone in to the Apple store and even there, Office 2016 looks to be a CPU hog for some reason?

Thanks

Yessir, I noticed the same thing which is particularly annoying being that as a result of the higher resources being used = battery hog.

Exactly, battery life is affected. It's a shame because Office 2016 looks quite nice and is 99.9% similar to it's windows equivalent.

Anyone else noticing the same high CPU behaviour? Maybe I should move this to the El Capitan sub forum.
