Can someone clear this up for me..

I need 5 licenses for Office - 3 for me (iMac and 2 x MacBooks) and 1 for each of my housemates (also on MacBooks). All running Capitan.

Only be using word/excel/outlook - won't be utilising cloud based aspect.
Am I right in thinking I can purchase the below and we will be all good? As long as we aren't all sharing the same email account and having access to each others emails and documents that is all we need.

It's the 365 Home 5 Users package - this one basically:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-O...F8&qid=1445707169&sr=8-3&keywords=office+2016

Will that do the job?

Yes. That will be fine.

I'm not sure whether you get 1 TB storage each or between you, so check that out.

Yes. This is ok.
Home user subscription can share unused subscription license to others. And everyone can get their own 1TB online storage. Only subscription administrator need to pay for it.

Upon this mode, your other home mates can easily use their own email address, access their own email, cloud files, etc.

So don't need to worry about this.
