I read in one of the reviews (sorry, can't remember where) that 'full mail merge' is only in the 'business edition' of Office 2008 (I imagine the reviewer meant the Standard or Media editions).

I use mail merge to produce address labels from time to time and would buy Office 2008 Home and Student Edition if it had this facility (Pages '08 does not, sadly).

If mail merge is missing from Word 2008, I'm certainly not prepared to pay over £300 for the Standard edition in order to get it. I shall have to continue to use Windows XP under VMware Fusion in order to run Office 2003 and Money, which are about the only reason that I need Windows.

NeoOffice has a Mail Merge Wizard... may be you'd like to take a look at it. Good free app, MS Office compatible ;)

Here's a screenshot of Entourage's preferences pane:

I couldn't find any handheld/mobility syncing options. If you know where I might find them, I'll take a look :)

Under 2004, there was a folder under Applications/Office 2004/Additional Tools and a program called Handheld Sync.

If that's not there, then it looks like the Sync Services option under Preferences is the way to support handhelds.

There doesn't appear to be and Handheld Sync tool anywhere within the Office 2008 folder. Also, the sync options are simply for syncing with iCal, Notes and Address Book.

My guess is that Home and Student edition doesn't have that feature... or it's just been removed.

Did it import your existing folders from Entourage 2004? Was the upgrade smooth? Do you have Adobe Acrobat? Does one need to re-install Acrobat to enable the PDF icons?
