If you are worried about full compatibility, just run parallels and install office for windows. Then all macros, graphics, etc. will work just fine.

Man, that is just a non-optimal solution. As an engineer, that just offends my sensibilities.

Other than the technical aspects, why should people have to pay for multiple Office licenses to run on ONE computer to basically do the things where ONE Office suite should suffice?

Because most people are willing to sacrifice hundreds of dollars for the perception of saving a couple hours of their time.

I'm not sure I understand your point.

For what it's worth, I AM running 3 versions of MS Office on my MBP. Fortunately for me, someone else paid for them.
 
I don't understand people who will buy a Mac AND pay for Windows (even an OEM copy) AND pay for Office for Windows.

In those situations what you need is a PC not a Mac*




*Of course there are exceptions to this, depending on circumstance
