There is an ACTUAL tool for those little openings. I had one at my old job with that had a little triangle handle and a long pin atached to it. It was used for opening stuck CD drives.

ummm ... That's a paperclip . not a special tool.

BTW it seems Apple has some sort of affection with using paperclips to service Apple products? This is not the 1st time Apple has endorsed the use of a paperclip to interact with Apple products.

Not sure if this is still true with newer Apple hardware but in the past Apple has endorsed the use of paper clips for:

1. Paperclip is to be used to eject CD from older iMac's.
2. Paperclip is to be used to force reboot older Powerbooks.
3. Apparently now a paperclip is to be used to remove simcard from iPhone

Wash DC suburbs
now we'll get the posts whining about how Apple doesn't allow for different sized paper clips people want to forge in their own home smelting facility.

The first paper clip I received with my loaner phone was a series 5. The one they sent me with my replacement phone was a series 7. I may be crazy, but the series 5 paper clip really looks brighter and crisper. :)

That's odd. My 5* series paper clip has gotten dimmer. It may be from the new update. :D

Don't forget the iBook battery removal tool!!

Seriously though.... poke all the fun you want at Apple, but I love the fact that they use everyday household/office products as tools. It's pure genius.

I've actually seen people really struggle to get a sim out of other model phones.

If you're just dying to own your very own Apple Paperclip Pro:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290146083291

The questions for the auction are equally funny:
Q: What is a question?
A: A sentence in an interrogative form, addressed to someone in order to get information in reply. You, sir, have succeeded in your mission.

Q: Where do the batteries fit, or do I just push it into the mains socket to recharge it?
A: See "Electrical Fire" below.

Q: Yes, but will it play Doom?
A: Possibly, but it really prefers Duke Nukem 3D.

Special Apple paperclip

Well, those greedy folks at Apple have gone and done it again. They recessed the hole for the paperclip so that a NORMAL paperclip won't work. You have to buy the Apple paperclip or get the paperclip adapter from Belkin. Of course the Belkin paperclip adapter is long and rigid so it looks bad... I'm going to wait for the Griffin paperclip adapter, I guess.
