Nice app, but...

What if I want to check price-drop apps list that are not popular? Like I can do in the website...

What happens if I look up the Appshopper app using the appshopper app? Will my iPhone explode?

It may not be a developer limitation but a limitation of the app store feed, but we language filters terribly. I only want to see english apps, but the list is littered with all other languages too. Makes it difficult to use without a language filter.

I do like AppShopper, but the email notifications already do pretty much all I need, so I don’t know if I even need an app! Cool to have one available though. Maybe once Push is added I’ll think about turning the emails off, but I already have PandoraBox doing it that was and I prefer the plain old emails from AppShopper. I’ve stopped using PandoraBox much.

P.S. I’d like to see TouchArcade link every game mentioned to AppShopper, since that (and not iTunes) is where I usually go next.

Just curious, what does it matter if Appshopper knows which apps I have? The App store lets me know when I need updates, how would this help?

I have almost 2000 apps which makes iTunes really unstable when choosing which apps I want on my ipod. Deleting these apps is not an option coz there is no option to keep track of apps I bought in iTunes Appstore. Also I wont be getting update notifs for apps I already deleted.

This iTunes list importer added all the apps I own (which includes multiple iTunes account ranging from NZ, to US, to canada and one for my own country ) in my Appshopper account and I can see if any of them got updated and worth picking up again without needing it to be installed in iTunes/iPod. Also, the update list in Appshopper is a lot easier to browse then checking the iTunes where you need to select each app to see the update info. In Appshopper, its all on the same page and takes me a few seconds to go through all the latest updates.

Also for a free-app-whore (hence the almost 2000 apps) like me, it sometimes becomes really difficult to keep track of apps I already got on a free sale last time but havent yet checked them out. Since all my paid-to-free app discoveries happen on AppShopper, the small tickmark which tells me if I already have the app or not is a life saver :D

I want arn's approval. He has pulled numerous unapproved MacRumors apps from the App Store before.

Wow, I didn't know that. If Arn isn't creating one himself why doesn't he just let other people, like yourself, go ahead and create unofficial versions?? I've been waiting years for an official MacRumors app. This is supposed to be one of the most popular Mac sites in the world so it's strange that there still isn't an app.

macrumors is fine in safari for iphone

Before I sold my iPhone 3G (currently waiting for the white model to come) I used to use the mobile version of the MacRumors website all the time but acessing and posting in the comments / forum section was a joke. That's the main reason I want an app. Is it any better nowadays??

Does MacRumors probably create most of it's income through advertising? And now with the iPhone and the iPad are a significant number of people who visit the site prob doing so on iOS?

Your app doesn't seem to have any of the advertising! I wouldn't want to stop this great site receiving the revenue my visits accumulate.

And I also think it is fine in mobile safari.

Your app does look good though.

Actually, because of the tiny links and inappropriate layout, MR is extremely difficult to use on Mobile Safari.

No, MR is still a royal pain on a mobile browser. The inability to scroll within a reply window in the forums is a real dealbreaker. Good luck managing multiquotes. :(

But MR is in dire need of a forum software upgrade for both mobile and desktop use. Troll management (needed more and more every day) is a pain for the individual and non-existent for the collective community (no voting, no downranking, no vote-to-kick, etc.), and I still get email notifications (which include full posts) from posters who are on my Ignore list.

Not to mention the whole place could use a good coat of fresh paint - preferably a shade that's been fashionable in the 21st century. ;)

Use 2 fingers to scroll within a form field.

Also, for those complaining about small text, that's why pinch and zoom was invented.

MR should have an add free payed app. I'd defo pay for it. The appshopper app is ok but the ads take up a fair bit at the top of the screen.
Why not give people the choice??

The OP screen shot is deceiving and does not show the Ads. I deleted the App after seeing the Ads. If a paid App appears I will gladly pay for an Ad free App any day.

Ad's are an insult to the user.

edit* I will admit the Nissan Ad is neat and much better than any other Google type Ad but it's still an insult. I'm not going to run out and buy anything from any Ad I may see in an App. :(

Yes, as far as I know, MacRumors makes money from paid subscriptions and advertising. While my app currently doesn't have any ads in it, adding iAd to it would probably take less than a minute.

I can beat that: 2500. :) http://appshopper.com/user/Habakuk
I got most of them free too thanks to AppShopper.com.

which makes iTunes really unstable when choosing which apps I want on my ipod.

It seems that has gotten a tiny bit better with iTunes 10 but it's still slow. And it's still buggy when I want to update 30+ apps with "Download all free updates".

Deleting these apps is not an option coz there is no option to keep track of apps I bought in iTunes Appstore.

There is a workaround that I am using often especially when I want to know what I actually payed for an app some weeks or months ago.

Just open Spotlight Search (Command + Space) and type or paste the app's name. Spotlight will show up the E-Mail with iTunes/Click&Buy receipt of the day when you bought it. Works most of the times. Would be a cool feature to have that built-in AppShopper app or webpage.

I am loving this app, but one thing I miss is the ratings. I didn't realize how much I paid attention to that until using this app and feeling blind without the ratings. Are they there and I just missed them?

Also, In response to a previous poster about wanting to see all the apps, and not just what is popular, I think if you hit the "what's new" it will show everything and not just the popular one.

And I agree with another poster about needing a language filter. That would be awesome!

no it's not.
the 'regular' page is pretty much unusable and even in the mobile version it is a pain to navigate.
plus in the mobile it doesn't render posts well (for example no bolding), 90% of the time the posts don't get posted and the app crashes all the time.
it is awful, honestly.
