Coming from a 14 Plus for 2 years - I agree.

Battery life on my 14+ is 2x more than my 14PM.

This year, I am getting the 16 Pro to replace the 14+ for the AOD.
Need AOD for my new EV car that uses phone as a key.

So what exactly does this really say about battery performance? Ofc I don't mean by this that a Pro lasts longer than a Max but I mean... can the battery life still be better overall? I remember Pro had always an awful battery life for people who use their phone a lot during the day.

Apple says Pro Max still lasts longer with their testing scheme, but I suspect that's due to the LTPO display going down to 30Hz for video and 1Hz idle.

What are the equivalent values in mAh?

I'm still okay with my iPhone 13 Pro, I just want to know...

Why would you need AOD for that?
My EV app uses BT/NFC to connect for locking/unlocking and other functions.

The Pro line that has AOD is needed to "awaken" my EV without touching the phone.

14/14+ does not have AOD and I have to unlock the phone, then open the app to connect to my EV.

14Pro/PM has AOD (work phone) and don't need to touch the phone - just walk up and unlocks.

This is a strange implementation and a possible security risk, as it means that anyone with your AOD-ed iPhone could just walk up to your car and unlock it? 🤷🏻‍♂️

One thing not noticed by anyone is that the 16 Plus has the largest battery ever in any iPhone.

At 18.1 Whr, it’s nearly the capacity of iPad mini 4/5/6.

Remember, the new A18 Pro, iOS and 3nm process makes the battery last even longer in the 16 Pro lineup.

Actual testing will reveal that.
From the numbers in the keynote, it seems like the performance improvements and the efficiency improvements (which were specified at same performance, which conversely means they would go down at higher performance) would roughly balance each other out. Meaning, if you actually take advantage of the performance improvements proportionally, battery life would not improve. So it will depend on how you use your phone.
