Yeah, I thought it was coming out last week? Way too much build up after waiting a year for this stupid app. What can they possibly offer that will result in anything other than a big anticlimactic yawn, as other options have been available for a while now. I just use the native web site anyway.

while waiting for the official app, why not give this app a try:

I was using Friendly for awhile, and finally called it quits. It's buggy and never worked quite right.

I created my own app. It's called facebook.com. I put a link to it on my home screen. The link is the blue square with the f on the right so it even looks like an official app. Takes me right to my Facebook page. So far, the best interface for Facebook on the iPad is the actual website on Safari. Sad but true.

I think Facebook does take mobile devices seriously. I just think they don't completely understand how to optimize for them or maybe don't have that great of people to do it.

As for ditching Facebook for Google+, I think I'm a long way off from that. I still don't even understand what I'm supposed to be doing with Google+ and I am concerned about privacy issues.

Hmmm this is now like Skype - getting crazy.

The Skype app must be close or Apple is being pedantic during the approval process or it has been rejected. At least we have seen evidence of the native Skype app for iPad nearly a month ago (though the articles said at the time it was expected to be out the next couple of days, if true then surely it has been rejected)

On the other hand the Facebook app is all rumour so far isnt it? Maybe no app exist and we are simply having to wait for the HTML5 web experience??

I've done the exact same thing. I even tried MyPad for a bit too. I'm looking forward to the official FB app, I just hope it's better than the iPhone app which has been really slow and buggy the past few updates.

I used to really like Friendly and defended it here more than once. However, I think the developer has given up or just doesn't care anymore.

It really looks like junk now and it works for crap most of the time.

The only thing still going for it is being able to set it up with more than one facebook account. My wife and I both use our iPad and having to log in to different accounts gets old after a while.
