I think people just want re-assurance that the $500+ they plan on spending is going to be a good investment. Pretty much everyone who has reserved or pre-order the iPad is doing so without ever having used an iPad before.

Are you really expecting some huge horrible surprise?
It's very similar to the situation faced by those of us when we bought iPhones on June 29, 2007.I think people just want re-assurance that the $500+ they plan on spending is going to be a good investment. yeap, with little higher investment into it.🙂It's very similar to the situation faced by those of us when we bought iPhones on June 29, 2007.
My initial investment was even money in 2007. I went with the $599 8GB iPhone. Same price as the 32GB iPad that FedEx will be delivering to me a week from Saturday. 🙂yeap, with little higher investment into it.🙂

We had the exact, really exact, same experience with the iPhone. I was on the fence. And lined up at the last minute. I could see the potential of the platform. This was before the App Store was even a glimmer in Steve's eye....In watching the keynote speech about the iPad I didn't dismiss it out of hand as "one of those things." I waited impatiently to learn when it would be available and how much I'd have to pay for one. No question in my mind about getting the thing. I see it as a launching pad with all sorts of possibilities, especially with creative developers offering us any number of amazing apps for it.
I really think this thing is going to be a winner, in some ways even more so than the iPhone......
Is that based on their time with the iPad after its introduction on January 27th? I would assume so...?I just got my copy of MacWorld, and it has a hands-on review of the iPad. Off to check it out now...

It didn't happen... not like what we're talking about in this thread. Due to the time needed to produce the magazine, etc., I'm sure the story is based on this article from their website: http://www.macworld.com/article/145988/2010/01/ipad_hands_on.htmlPix or it didn't happen 😛
Middle of next week - Weds/Thurs. Expect reviews from Baig, Pogue, and Uncle Walt.
Engadget got a hands-on demo during the Keynote. If you google "iPad hands-on", you'll find the video of their hands-on experience.
