I wouldn't test it.

Show up early. Get in line.

Demand is through the roof. Don't show up at 6 pm and be surprised if they don't have any left.

EARLY IS THE KEY.


(That said, they SHOULD have the phone for you. But, again, don't press your luck.)

Ditto. I hate having to be one of the day one horde at the Apple store, but the online ordering debacle left no other choice.
