This happens every week or two.

I never stream music. I always add it to my Music library then immediately make available for playback offline.

However I'll go out into town. Get out my iPhone and headphones and go to play a song and I'll get the error message that says I cannot play the track as I'm not connected (I deny Apple Music data use).

It appears to delete my music from the device for no reason. I download all the tracks via wifi. But then randomly when I'm out they're not available.

Does any one have a solution?

I believe you need to have a connection to listen to even offline songs, I don't think it will use your data though.

not always... u must have connection for proof as an active Apple music subscription initially. but as long as u have icloud library enabled, your offline music will still play, with or without internet connection.

If u wanna try.. sign in to itunes and enable iCloud library, to see any offline music in your playlist..

Start playing, then disconnect from the internet...

Songs will play without a connection :) I think Apple needs to verify every 30 days or so... Never needed to do this, because while i have offline content. i'm never away for that long.

It was kind of bizarre because I connect to Wifi every day. So you'd think it would verify constantly when Wi Fi is available.

It did it again today - went to play a song in the car - that i'd listened to in the house. . .and it was 'not available offline'.

I have Mobile Data allowed for MUSIC. . .but have the 'downloads and streaming' slid to off and iCloud music library is enabled. So it's just awfully confusing as to why it keeps doing this. :(

Why do apple not know what offline playback means. This morning even with the little offline playback icon... My album was unplayable. So I allowed mobile data and then they STREAMED because when I then turned off mobile data they disappeared again. This is a service killer. image.png

Today, preparing for a trip tomorrow, I downloaded 2 of my favorite playlists. I went into airplane mode and all the songs played just fine. I'm not sure why its not working for you.

Looking at that image I don't see the download icon by each song/track so that's why they don't play.

Yes but you can see the whole album is saved for offline playback wth the icon in the image of the iPhone. The tick next to the heart.
