I'm another victim of the Apple bug, and a damn happy one too. 😀

By order of purchase:
- Apple Pro Keyboard. Best keyboard, ever.
- 15" PowerBook, SuperDrive. Best notebook, ever.
- Apple Bluetooth Mouse. One button rocks.
- iPod mini, Silver.
- Xserve G5. Best server, ever.
- Airport Express
- iMac G5
- Two 20" Aluminum ACDs. Most beautiful monitors, ever.
- Two Blue iPod minis, 6GB and 4GB.
- Mac mini

Apple has raised my standards regarding aesthetically pleasing electronics, not just in computers. I thought my PocketPC was good when I bought it (before I had a Mac) but now I can't help but notice that it is made from cheap plastic and there is no attention to detail. The same goes for visible cabling on a workstation which I didn't mind before I had a Mac, now I can't stand it.

holy crap that is sweet, can your powerbook run both 20" displays, so thats
3 span monitor including the powerbook.

nice, i am very jealous of your Xserve as well, you must be making lots of cash!!!

P.S. Abusing the pell grant is not my fault they give me 4050 a year and enroll me in classes for free so all I need to buy is tokens for the subway and the textbooks I don't use. Only in America. 😀

You are joking, right?

The US has the worst post-secondary (university) financial aid of any first world nation, by quite a margin. If you were in Denmark, you'd go to college for free as a matter of course and get a subsidy, no matter what college you went to. In the UK your top tuition would be the equivalent of $5k/yr, even at Oxford.

I'd imagine you are attending such-and-such State U, right? Because the Pell hardly covers all of Stanford's tuition.

One monitor I use with the Mac mini and sometimes with my PowerBook (for Final Cut) and the other one I got for a friend, who also has a PowerBook to drive the display.

I can't stand the PowerBook and the Cinema Display side-by-side though, the image quality is so much better on the ACD that it makes the PowerBook screen seem weak. I prefer to run it in closed-lid mode.

And then I saw it ... that monstrous 20" iMac. That giant behemoth of a machine that I want to have sex with. My girlfriend was actually scared of the thing. I also got the chance to use the Apple one button mouse, I LOVE it, definitely getting one.

And believe it or not, this was also my first time seeing an iPod. I ... I'm in love. It's so beautiful and smooth to the touch.

These bastards are going to take all my money.

I bought the 20" iMac and LOVE IT! I would have sex with it also, but my wife wont let me, she is jealous!!! LOL

Seriously, the 20" iMac is a beautiful machine, but get at least a GIG of RAM. I just bought an iPod mini which I have yet to get some real use out of but so far I love it.

I think the Apple bug hits even when buying one machine!

With the BTO options, you start going "what's a few more dollars for more RAM and Harddrive?" then "well, if I'm spending all that, what's a few more hundred for a bigger screen?" then "well, just a few more hundred would get an amazing harddrive and even more RAM and would utilise the bigger screen"

And before you know it you've spent an extra $800-$1000. But we love out Macs. 😀

While this is off topic, I must agree 100% here. The United States is getting out of hand with college tuition and fees. Anymore, your odds of a decent job are much lower without a college education but the price of that education is completely insane. I was told by my university I could not have aid because I had stock investments and money in a savings account that I was supposed to turn in to pay for my tuition. Heaven forbid I actually graduate with some money in savings. Oh well, at least I will have social security to fall back on.... 😎

But more on topic... I'm still lovin' my G5 😀

Not in love with the mice, though, but that's because I have early stage RSI so need my split keyboards and nice supportive ergo mice. Even if the mice are cool as hell.
Blue Velvet was saying that her wrists feel better with the 1-button mouse. Others agreed. I think it is ergonomic. Personally I like my Kensington 5-button, but I do think I'm starting to get carpal tunnel.

I remember when I rediscovered Macs a few years ago (we had Macs when I was a kid).

I remember buying my Power Mac - the smell, the shiny doors, the vents.

Then a Cinema Display.

Then an iBook.

Then a G5 iMac.

Then a 20GB iPod.

Then a 40GB iPod photo........

Once they get you, it's all over.

They gave me the grape Kool-Aid™

I know the feeling. I have the 20gb and 4gb iPods. And now I am thinking of the 1gb Shuffle for my planned day trips to NYC. 16 hours battery life, plus another 20 with battery pack gives me thoughts 😀

My order was:

20gb iPod
PB 12" 1.25ghz
eMac 1.25ghz
iPod mini 4gb

Planned purchases (no particular order):

1gb iPod Shuffle
Battery pack for the above
iMac G5 2.0ghz (not sure about whether it will be the 17 or 20 at this time)
Mac mini with EyeTV (this is more of a dream I am feeling)
iSight for the iMac (or the G5 PM - see below)

[The iMac may give way to one of the PM dualies, if I can get over the sticker shock. My purchase of a G5 based Mac will end up being my main machine for my photo work. Just not sure the extra cost of the PM's is worth it over the iMac's at this point. For me it is a situation that I don't want to waste the Dell FP2001 that I got at Xmas.]

NO! Don't even SUGGEST that people look at that 30" screen! I'm still in withdrawal after seeing a photo of how much information could be displayed on it. It's like getting out of your VW and noticing you've parked next to a Lamborghini... nothing will ever satisfy you again.

Tell me about it... I keep telling myself the 23" is big enough... it's beautiful, it's all I need... and it is... but that 30" beast is just so out of this world.

Right now my wet dream is a dual 2.3 G5 and a 23-inch Cinema Display. Hopefully by the end of the year!

Time for some aluminum, baby. 😀

I remember when I first went into the Apple Store. Haven't been back since. And it's not that I hate Apple or anything, it's just I'm only 13 and have no other transportation besides my parents and my parents don't want to drive 1 1/2 hours to the Apple Store, until I get enough money for my iBook. I drooled when I saw the 23" Cinema Display, the iBooks, and the gorgeous 17" Powerbook. Damn, I need some money now. MOM!! DAD!!

Apple bug indeed!

Let's see....

April 04 - Got a 20Gb iPod. Didn't get 15 Gb cos it didn't come with a dock and remote.

May 04 - Bought an eMac. Compaq laptop didn't go with iPod. Needed something to colour coordinate.

Aug 04 - Bought an iBook.

Apr 05 - Sold eMac. Bought iMac Rev A 17"

May 05 - Sold iMac. Bought iMac Rev B 20"

Damn you Apple 😀
