Should be worse for the west coast rather than the eastern u.s., they get to the activation process first. By the time we (west coast) get to it, the servers will already be jammed. Hopefully at&t prepares extensively for this.

They can't do this over Itunes?

They as in We.

We as in the people.

People as in .....ZOMBIES!!!!!

my experience with last year was bad I can't imagine this year ..

I do have a secret to activating FAST.. this worked with 3 iphones (3gs)

ok it was taking FOREVER for them to activate with the sim that came in the iphone .. what i did was take the sims out of the current iphone i had and BAM instant service.. worked on all three..

i know it has a microsim.. but just cut it down and maybe it will work

My advice is to relax and not sweat it. After its only a phone (ducks :p)

Seriously, it will be crazy that day but if push comes to shove, wait a couple of days if you must.

Its gonna suck that I am stuck at work until 5pm EST but in a way its a blessing, I get to not stress over the servers and I am sure they will be better by that late in the day.

Activation is going to be as bad as the number of threads discussing how bad it will be

It'll be handled as well as ATT handled pre-orders.......:D:D

I mean, c'mon, if they couldn't get pre-ordering right, what makes you think they'll get activation right........

Oh yea, AT&T is going to be well prepared for this. They learned their lesson...

Ha, ha, ha.......

I received my 3GS from UPS (or FedEx, I can't recall) at 2:00 PM on the launch day. Even then it took about two hours before activation would finally go through.

The AT&T corp store in my area did a great job with the Pre-orders, so I am sure they will do just as well on the 24th.

Pretty much hell and you know it.

I am hoping it will not be that bad for me on the east coast as mine will come via FedEx around 10am on their usual delivery so it will not be near as busy as it will be later in the day.

I am going from Blackberry to the iPhone 4 so I have the latest iTunes downloaded and my Blackberry synced with Outlook so it will move my contact and calendar info to my new phone!

I am ready:apple:

I am activating mine late at night on the 24th, right before I go to bed. Then maybe it will be done when I wake up in the morning.

remember it was an international launch (somewhat anyway). not all of those 600,000 are going to be activated on AT&T. and i had no problem with activation on my 3GS lasy year on launch day

I don't think it will be that bad...remember, the online stores to buy the iphone all opened at the same time around the world.

when the phone get's delivered to my door at 9am on the 24th (I wish), people in the US (east coast) will still be in bed, and wont get their's delivered for another 5 hours or so..then another 3 hours later for the westcoast

so, the activation will be staggered.

i'm NOT going to relax... and if i have issues activating i'm going to be a raving, mad, lunatic, BIATCH!

Will I be able to begin the activation process next Thursday and while waiting for it to complete, back up my old phone and restore it to the new phone? If so that's not that bad i could just take both with me the next day if it takes that long.
