My mom forces me to use this super slow 2G card on my brand new iPhone 4S. It gives me 20 megabytes (that ain't a typo) Come on, seriously? I need to save like crazy now, and I have to find ways to save data. Please help me!!

There are a few apps in the AppStore that monitor your data usage and will send you a popup notification when you reach a certain threshold. Definitely check them out.
Also, is that a grandfathered plan, or a prepaid? For $20 per month, you can get 300MB. And if you upgrade your SIM, you should be able to get 3G service.

Do a few things:
First, be sure to connect to Wifi ANYWHERE you can. This will minimize data usage.
Second, just don't browse the web or do anything besides calling/texting when you are NOT on Wifi.
Third, Get the app dataman (free) which will tell you exactly how much data you've been using. It's a legitimate iTunes app.

If you only have 20 megabytes, you may as well turn 3g data completely off. It'd be far too easy to go over it on such a device.

Especially on HSPA+. 20MB would be gone by the time you get into settings and disable it!
First decide if monitoring a piddly 20mb of usage is worth the headache. Next, once you have concluded that it obviously is NOT, just turn of mobile data and use wifi only. iPod touch with phone capabilities.

Sounds like its a phone activated on PagePlus. 1200 min 1200 txt and I think it only has like 20mb... (could be tmobile reseller too?)
I am pretty sure that in a month your phone will send idle data of more than 20mb.
Folks that have tried this have not been happy. Smart phones are not made for no / really low data plans.

Your mom forces you? You mean she's paying your contract, right? Anyway, if you make sure you only have mobile sites bookmarked, and cut the twitter and facebook crap and whatnot a bit, and use wifi where possible, 20MB might just last halfway through the month.
Here in New Zealand all the carriers offer Facebook for free, so it doesn't count towards your data. I guess you could at least use Facebook, then (but you don't get any pictures!)
