My mom forces me to use this super slow 2G card on my brand new iPhone 4S. It gives me 20 megabytes (that ain't a typo) Come on, seriously? I need to save like crazy now, and I have to find ways to save data. Please help me!!

I stopped about there.

Wi-Fi Everywhere. Are you in school, I assume? If you're college age, what do you need 3G for at all? I had a normal phone and an iPod Touch (1G after my sophomore year) and that more than got me by. There was 3G everywhere!

Pay for your own plane/phone.

This. If you can't afford to use an iPhone, then don't get an iPhone

I know this is hard to believe, but life is possible without a smartphone. I know, a horrible and radical idea. A fate worse than death.

Maybe a part time job is in order so you can pay for your own phone and cut one of those many tendrils attaching you to mommy.

Time to start paying you own way - at least in this minor manner.:D

get a job; pay monthly data. :-D

Has anyone considered maybe he doesn't actually WANT to pay for data, is happy with mom paying for what she does, and is just looking for advice on how not to rack up overages? Crazy ideas like these are constantly going in and out of my head.

It really boggles my mind as to why someone would want a smartphone but not pay for the data required to make it function as intended. Why buy any smartphone? If you can't afford it, don't use one.

Meh, there is a lot of wifi out there.

I don't even understand why a 20MB plan would even exist.

It seems pitiful on smartphones, but I had a 50MB plan on my old Samsung cellphone. All I did was check the weather and check emails, so 50MB sufficed. Most months I only used about 3MB

Not everyone's a big grown-up ;)

be greatful my dad is gonna put me on a smart plan soon but currently i only get 10MB per day:(

10MB per day is 300MB a month. The OP is getting 20MB a month. Be grateful :)

Get a job and pay for your own data?

Lots of people I know have smartphones without dataplans. If you want to save money that's how it is.

Anyone else notice that the OP took off laughing, never to return again.

Perhaps the OP has gone over their 20mb limit? We'll probability get a response when those next vital 20 megabytes are available in a months time. ;) :D

We have unlimited on Sprint and my son almost never touches it. He lives in the metro DC area where wifi abounds.

I'm posting in China, 19th century, and my parents don't want me to be surfing the web or downloading stuff to much, so the only time I can really go on the web is at home, with Wi-Fi

P.S I would happily pay for my own 2GB plan in China, my parents are the kind of traditional ones that don't know the reason that why people my age even use phone. They think the only reason of using a phone is calling your boss or to send a text to your colleagues
