So Cal
This is a competitor of the popular PopSockets brand. I have always used a PopSockets either with their Otter + Pop cases or more recently I had a pop slide and I used that with my 11 Pro Max in an Apple silicone case. Probably will never use one again.

I backed the ohsnap! Kickstarter campaign and got two grips and two snapcharge chargers. In hind site I should have added one of everything they sell. Hands down a much better product than I have ever used. The grip is a two part item. It has a metal ring that sticks to your case and then a grip that attaches magnetically. It is a slim profile on your phone. It is very easy to slide your finger under the tab and very comfortable. This can be done one handed, no need to first pull it out. Once you're done, it easily snaps back in place. I love the stand feature. It can be placed at 30 degrees or 70 I think. Either way it stands solid. I tried to knock it over both ways and with gentle knocking, it stays in place. This was a problem with my past product especially with the heavy 11 Pro Max. I also like how easily it can be removed and leaves a negligible footprint with the metal ring. I have a gimbal and in the past the pop slide worked well because I could take it off, but even better now I can just remove the grip and the receiver plate is so thin it doesn't affect placing my phone in the gimbal holder mount. It also makes sliding my phone in and out of my pocket easier than in the past because it doesn't have a lip and is relatively thin.

I'm sure the metal ring won’t stick to every case out there. But for me, if say I had a silicone case that won't allow a good seal, I will buy a different case that works with this.

I wanted to post it here because I hope this company does really well so they keep making great accessories. I have no affiliation with them and was just so excited about having their product that I had to post this.

i’ll test later but they posted a video showing them charging the 12 pro with the apple clear case and with apple’s magsafe charger. the only thing is they did have to remove the grip. it all depends on the case you have. i have a really thin case on order and i’ll see if that will charge with the grip on. i’ll confirm this as soon as I test it.

my anker qi charger didn’t work with or without the grip. seems like the metal ring affected the charger.

The stand using the MagSafe magnet is a great idea. I never thought of that. You can just attach it when you want to watch videos then remove it again.

i don’t think it will work that way. you have to install the metal ring.

no, it has 3m glue on it. it’s basically permanent. maybe eventually there will be accessories like that. i agree with you, that would be nice.

Thanks. That’s weird then. Not sure why you can’t just have a MagSafe kickstand that just attaches to the MagSafe case.

The magnets in the grip is not natively MagSafe compatible. They want you to think that in their manipulative marketing materials, but you have to install their sticker to make it work.

Ok that makes sense. So basically it’s an imitation MagSafe of sorts.

obviously not a fan. but I'm really finding the grip useful and the stand function. we'll see if anyone comes up with something similar that uses the MagSafe tech.

this grip is terrible... the metal ring fell off within minutes... they suggested I use double sided sticky tape LOL... or use thiner case for better wireless charging experience.

i gave up my apple clear case and got an apple leather case. i didn’t want to glue the metal ring to the back of my new case. today i gave up and cut the cable on my magsafe charger. glued the metal ring to the back of the magsafe puck and i’m in heaven with this. imho the ohsnap grip is better than a popsockets. maybe i’m crazy for repurposing my magsafe charger, but for me it’s worth it. magsafe grip and kickstand plus i have their stand. i can take some pictures tomorrow if there is any interest.

Yes please. Would love some pics.

[NOTE: Read my post #14 before this to understand.] Ok, here are the photos of my custom "Made for MagSafe" ohsnap! grips. While not perfect, its works wonderfully. As you can see the ohsnap metal ring extends slightly beyond the MagSafe puck, but the hold is solid. Hopefully the ohsnap folks decide to make something similar, just thinner, lighter and less expensive.

This is fantastic!!! I have an iPhone 12pro myself and I am using the Ohsnap as well. This is a great solution !! One question. Would you say the magnet force is as strong as using the original Ohsnap steel ring? If not how close it is?

Also, rather than destroying the MagSafe, have you thought about glueing the Ohsnap to a round magnet ring of the same size of the Magsafe? Probably we can find a thinner and cheaper magnet in the market...

Can I ask you what is the diameter of the MagSafe?
I know the Ohsnap grip is 60mm...

Thanks a lot and well done buddy!!

The connection is not as strong as the original intended use, but for me it is strong enough. If you have a MagSafe charger, you can feel the difference. A couple of times when placing my fingers under the grip, the MagSafe moves but I just slide it back in place. Once I have my fingers situated and am holding up my phone, it's perfect. As a kickstand it also is perfect and on their snap stand I can position my phone all around and it doesn't fall off. Removing the ohsnap grip from their metal ring requires some force. To remove my setup I just push the whole thing with little force and it moves away. I don’t think you could for example grab the ohsnap grip and hold your phone upside down. Maybe for a few seconds but it would then detach. With their metal ring attached directly to your phone or case, then yeah.

I don’t understand exactly if the magnet is in the phone or the magnet is on the MagSafe. My thinking is one side is magnetic and the other is metal. Isn't that how it works?

If the ohsnap is 60mm then my guess is 56-58mm on the MagSafe.

If you find an alternative to my setup, I'm all in for trying it.

Whoa this is genius. I want a MagSafe grip for my phone because I like to use the grip when I'm lying on the couch / in bed but don't need it when I'm out and about. I want to be able to swap it out for the wallet when i leave the house.

I'm gonna wait until there are more affordable options to do this, while your workaround is great, that's a pretty hefty price to pay.

Ok guys. I've found the perfect solution.

I have purchased a self adhesive 65mm round magnetic steel.

I have attached the Ohsnap ring to it and then I have covered the remaining portion of the 3M adhesive with a transparent film.

The final result is exactly what DARRINS has achieved (thanks for the idea !) but it's is much cheaper and probably stronger. The oshanp stays in place even upside down and stil you can easily remove it from you iPhone/case!!.

I got an ohsnap grip and stand and didn't end up liking the grip itself but the stand is really nice. It uses a ball joint so you can orient it any way. I used some double stick tape to attach a magsafe charger to make a charging stand. I stuck the whole thing to a broken apple tv to give it some heft so the phone still pops off easily.

But Osnap uses Micro Adhesion so you're not actually glueing. I think that the magsafe magnet thing will end up being a failure.
