iPhone 8(+) Ok, I admit it... I'm a hypocrite...

So, I had an Iphone 8 until last May when I took the bait and bought a Samsung Galaxy S9 at half price from T-Mobile. The phone was very buggy from the start and was replaced under warranty in July.
At the same time, I was realizing that I really do prefer IOS to Android. I wanted to like Android, but I couldn't get comfortable with it. Both are great, just like the s9 and Iphones.
Feeling nostalgic, I made a hasty Iphone SE purchase thinking that I would keep the s9 and have the SE to stay in touch with ios. After using the SE for the first week, I quickly realized how I missed the apps, imessage, and simplicity of ios/iphone. I really do like "keep it simple, stupid". I am not a customizer. I love the SE and pontificated how that's all I needed, "less is more" etc. I think the new iphone models look great, but they are overkill for my needs. However, I soon realized that the world has grown up past the SE, and the Iphone 8, for the money @$599, gives you SO much more than the SE. So i brought home a new Iphone 8, white/silver, from the Apple store last night, just like the one I had before. Boy, did I miss the iphone 8. I like the compact size and the glass back. The chip set is fairly up to date and it just works. I don't need an infinity screen and like the home button on the bottom chin.
Samsung phones are amazing even if the battery life sucks, but I view the the difference between Samsung and Iphone like the Corvette(s9) vs the Porsche 911(iphone). The s9's tech specs look great on paper, but the iphone handles like a Porsche 911 in reality. Loving my Iphone 8!

I'm totally with you, similar story, moved to a Galaxy S8 last September, loved it for a while but i then started to notice things that just weren't as simple as on IOS, I now have an iPhone XS and love it and will probably never stray again :D

I tried back when the S7 Edge was the flagship. Lasted about 3 months before I used it to pay a poker loss. Was happy because it didn't feel like I lost anything of value and the next guy got a phone he was happy with.

Same! Used Iphone for years and switched to Pixel 2 in February to try out Android but sold it last week and bought an 8 Plus and loving it (as are my eyes which didn't agree with OLED).

I carry both an S8 and an Xs now. My first smart phone was an Android, and I swore up and down I would never switch due to the lack of customizability on iOS devices...at least until my wife talked me into trying the iPhone 4 out. I spent the first week bitching about all of the things I couldn't do with the iPhone that my Android would let me do, but I quickly realized that I was no longer complaining about dropped calls and force closing apps. Keeping in mind that the 4 was the device that truly had reception issues, I never once experienced any problems with it, and was happy enough after that first week that I bought the 4S shortly after it came out.

I still have the Android curiosity in the same way that I still keep a PC around the house, but iOS/macOS have become home for me. I've had every new release phone the day it came out since the 5 was released, and all the S8 does anymore is remind me of the pains I would have experienced along the way had I not switched to iOS for my primary line.

I have heard horror stories on both sides.
I have heard why this one is better than that one.
I have heard the arguments over quality.
I have heard the this one is more customizable than that one.

We’ve seen it in this forum.

Life is too short, find what you like and run with it.

You never know until you try something.
Sure there are exceptions to that rule.

Oh yes, I forgot to add that phone/text quality and apps force closing also irked me. The s9 has an amazing screen but the Iphone 8 LCD looks fine to me and just works better for me. One day the PHONE app quit working on a month old Samsung galaxy s9. I couldn't believe it.
