While I can't speak for the iPad 3, USB extension cables (I use 10' ones) work just fine with my iPad 2.....

My extensions charge all the iPhones I have including the 5, but will not charge my iPad 3. I guess the cable can't negotiate the higher power draw with the adapter + extension cable.

I'd like a spare chord+plug in charger for my ip5. Should I not be irritated that at the Apple store, they are $19 each for a total of $38? I would have imagined they'd be $19 for both.
