I have been a customer of At&t/cingular since 2000. never pay late. I have the 3g iphone which i bought on launch day 7/12/08. I called att and the guy said that i can buy the new 3gs at the 199/299 price points on 7/11/09. if i go try to buy it between now and 7/10/09 i will have to pay the 399/499 price.

So judging from me, 3g owners should be able to get it at the upgrade prices one year from buying the phone

It depends on how much you pay a month, plus other things like length of being a customer, pay history, etc. Many people are only eligible in December, some in March. It is highly dependent on each user.
