I recently re-installed OS X to fix an issue with permissions, and as an apple employee told me, there is now a folder called "Previous Systems" on my hard drive. Is it OK to delete this because it is simply a backup of my old system? It takes up 8.7 GB of space and I'm not too fond of that. I would put it on an external hard drive just in case.

bmwstormer,

It is most likely, that you did an archive and install, which basically installs a new copy of OS X, and creates a folder containing your old system. like you said. If you put on an external drive, it will work fine. But if you do delete it make sure you have that external drive. or you could burn this to a DVD or two.

thanks for the quick reply. Besides using monolingual, what are some good ways to save on hard drive space? I'm dual booting a MBP and have limited space because of the Windows partition.
