I have the iPhone 4S. I don't have LTE in my area, and I don't think the town I'm going to transfer to for college will have it since I'm in AT&T. Is it still worth getting?

If you're going to college you should probably get at least two, because college life can be pretty rough on a phone. I wouldn't get the white ones though, mostly girls have them at my college, so. Also don't put them in a case, I know it sounds stupid but I've hooked up with chicks when they noticed I wasn't using one, it kinda shows them you have money (in my case I also like to show that with my cars, clothes etc), it kinda raises your value with them. I got special versions of the iPhone 5 but if you can't find them you should still be fine with the regular ones.

Seriously? Most girls around here have Purple Otterboxes, they know better than to have a naked iPhone...

Please don't take this the wrong way. If you need to wait to get paid before you can afford a phone or any other gadget, you're not living within your means.

Focus on college, save as much money as you can so that when you get out, you'll have enough for a decent start. Then, get a professional job that pays a good salary.

Don't study useless subjects like art, history, sociology, psychology (unless you plan on getting a PhD in it), communications, or other liberal arts (aka "soft skills") while racking up tens of thousands on student loans.

You can study continuously for the rest of your life in those "soft skills" areas as a hobby.

Don't get my wrong, I love subjects like art, history, interpersonal communication, and psychology. I dabble in those subjects now for my own edification.

Having a liberal arts degree doesn't really pay the bills. Sure, some people end up being successful writers or land some white collar office job not related to their degree, but seriously how often does that happen?

This country needs more doctors, scientists, and engineers bad.

Yeah, save your money. I'm also in college, and I was able to get it only because I sold my unlocked 4 for ~$300.

Kind of out of place, but well said. We are chronically short of engineers and doctors and yet we have lots of unemployed...

This thread is still going on? I already got the iPhone 5 for 167.99 dollars at Best Buy. Traded in my iPhone 4S and had a $200 early upgrade discount.

Lol...
