I have a question about the speed of the old model. I am considering buying a refurb but have one question. I currently have a 2008 white MacBook 2.1ghz C2D with 4gb of RAM and as the specs of the base 11" are 1.4ghz and 2gb of RAM that would seem significantly slower. I was wondering how much of a difference the SSD makes and how fast this machine is in the real world. So if you have one let me know. Thanks.

I had the same white macbook until it committed suicide mid semester last fall. I needed a new computer ASAP and since the air had came out a week ago, I got it. SSD is probably my favorite part about it. Imagine a computer that boots up faster than my iphone 4, and awakens from sleep as quick as an iphone. Thats the Macbook Air.

Depends on what you do with it. For basic office apps it was great. Fast boot and application access. 2GB was never a limiting factor.

    Cheers,

The only intensive things I ever used were iMovie and very rarely Photoshop elements. I don't really expect to edit video on this (I plan on getting an iMac or 15" MBP later this year) but would it be possible to do light editing in iMovie with the base 11" 2010?

One other question, how does the battery hold up? Or how long until you see a noticeable difference in charge length.

If you compare export speed in iMovie I'm guessing the MacBook would be significantly faster.
