I’m not trying to be snarky, but physically, that’s about it.

I'm sure someone uploaded some earlier, but here's a couple of quickies.
(Oh, if you're wondering, there's a matte screen protector on the old iPad, which is why the screen looks a bit naff. I like the feel of the Pencil with a matte screen protector, so I'll likely be getting one for the new iPad too.)

How does it feel? I personally have the older IPAD 12.9 inch and i have been thinking for the past year to get a smaller one because it was annoying at times to carry both a macbook and the ipad. But since they made it smaller, it's been a tough decision. Please give us your thoughts.

Thank you so much for the pictures. Website doesn’t have actual comparisons so I was interested in seeing if I made a good choice

It's an incredible improvement, I really cannot overstate just how much of a difference it is. It's one of my favourite things about the new iPad.

To give you an idea, I have severe nerve damage and even with morphine and a whole load of other nasties, the pain is never really gone.

I love the size of the 12.9, but the old one really did cause issues for me sometimes - especially when my stupid arm is acting up, I literally couldn't hold it.

I tried going to the 10.5" last year, but the screen size just didn't do it for me, I'm too used to the 12.9 now. So the wife got that one, which is good, it stops her pinching mine to draw on :D

So, the new 12.9". As soon as I took it out of the box, I was amazed at just how light it is in comparison. I can already tell just how much less of an issue it will be for me - which is a bit of a godsend.

It's not just that it's smaller, lighter and thinner - which of course it is. But the combination of all of those things also changes its centre of gravity a little and it's really noticeable.

In complete honesty, with the size and weight differences now, I would recommend the 12.9 to everyone. It's so much more manageable than the old one. You're getting the best of both worlds. Size of screen and manageability.
If you're on the fence, of course go to an Apple Store and try them out - you'll be surprised.

But if you have the old 12.9 and are in the market for an upgrade, especially if you were considering the 10.5 (or 11) don't, I really would just get the new 12.9.

Great insight and this will definitely be part of my buying process. one of things i did like about the 12.9 was a full touchpad keyboard which I was able to type pretty good. I can't wait to check it out at the store and make my assessments.

This is great insight. I’m blind in one eye and struggle with bright light in my left, and love the 12.9 for the visual footprint. However, I still don’t find a $1K+ upgrade is worth replacing my current Pro.

So glad to hear this. I picked up mine this morning on the way to work, and I haven't had a chance to open it. I have the 2015 12.9, and it'll be great to have that in a smaller, lighter package.

While I appreciate the attempt, this is an awful photo and screen shot to try and show a comparison of the sizes between the two.

I agree, that was just a quick snap I happen to be doing for a slightly different purpose ;)

Will be doing more comparion videos and photos for the next few days; it will be much more proper than this for sure!

Yes it is a bitter pill to swallow.
To be perfectly honest, if not for the size and weight reduction, I’d have been keeping my first gen iPad Pro too.

But, for me, to have a 12.9” iPad which caused less aggravation to my stupid nerve damage, was too good an opportunity to pass up.

That however is a very specific set of conditions, it won’t apply to everyone.

My iPad Pro order is set to deliver Friday. They do have them in stock at the store today, but I think I will wait for the one Friday.
