Old Airport Express performs better than the new one???

I'm currently using the old express where the outlet is built into the body.

I just moved and have been having really bad lag when I play HoN. So I went to get the newest Airport Express to see if it would perform any better.

It actually performed worse. I went to speedtest.net and got around 36 mbps with my old one vs about 17 mbps with the new one.

Did I do something wrong, or am I missing something?
 
What speed are you connecting to each router at ?

Option Click the WiFi symbol in the menu bar, you should see Transmit Rate:
