I have a 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac. Bought it some months ago. I recently had to redo everything. I've run into one problem. I cannot get the old AOL (yes, the old software with the installer) to work. I download it, and open it to install and it closes. It bounces in the dock for a few seconds then closes. Yes, I have Rosetta installed. I installed it from the CD. Other Rosetta required applications are working (Appleworks, for example).

Please help. Yes, AOL is lame and all that jazz and they have "AOL For Desktop" now, but I prefer for my family and my elderly Mother the original AOL software.

OK. Software titles have versions. I have no idea what "the old AOL" means. I do understand version numbers. What is the specific name and version of the AOL software that you are trying to use?

As a rule of thumb, even when you have an elder mother, you cannot install and run obsolete software. AOL is just a Web portal now. AOL Desktop for Mac and its Windows sibling are designed to make to most of this fact. You are going to have to come to grips with this reality.
