Hello.

I only recently bought an iPad Pro and today I tried to connect my old Apple wireless keyboard, the one I got with my iMac in 2006. It's the old clickety-clack key one. It's bluetooth, but when I tried to connect it to my iPad, iOS said it isn't supported. I was rather shocked and saddened. Has this keyboard been retired from all new Apple software? I am expecting to upgrade notebook either this year or next...will it not work with MacOS?

I have a real fondness for this keyboard.

Yeah, that is the case. You could always buy a mechanical Mac keyboard online.
Thanks. What a shame. The keyboard still works perfectly fine on my old 2006 iMac. I was keeping it assuming I could use it on future Macs. Even though it’s wireless, I just think of it as a plug and ply keyboard. I’m pretty sure I can stick an old keyboard from the 90s into a Windows machine and it should work. I don’t understand why a Bluetooth one from 2006 shouldn’t be compatible today.

Because unlike USB, the Bluetooth standard change and the new software supports the new standard Bluetooth stack.

I just tried to pair the wireless keyboard from an iMac G5 iSight to a 2013 iPad Air and an iPhone X. I got the same message as you.
