I do not know a lot about computers. I am looking into buying a Mac. My current computer has an Intel Pentium 4 CPU Processor at 3.00GHz, but it is antagonizingly slow. If it is at 3GHz, why would it be running so slowly? It also only has 512mb of RAM...which might do it as well...Is it because the RAM is so little as well as the old processor? Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot! (It still has Windows XP)

The speed of a computer depends on lots of factors, not just the CPU speed.
For example, you have to contend with the amount of RAM, the speed of the hard disk, speed of network if you are downloading or accessing the internet, etc.

Windows XP tended to slow down over time due to system issues within windows. Often a re-install of windows will speed things up.
