Ok. Let's try something. I open my laptop. I open a new safari window. It takes < 1 second. I bring iTunes up. instantaneous. My point is, it can't get faster. However, it felt like I was waiting for my computer to open a new Safari window, or bring up iTunes. to me, that is slower. When I have no need for Snow Leopard and only dislike for its new "features", I don't see any reason for using it.

If you want more proof, I'll gladly take a video and show you my MBP in action, running both 10.5 and 10.6 on an external drive, for you to compare.

Well if they are from external drives there may be a slowdown there. But to each their own. If you don't want to use 10.6 nobody should tell you you're wrong. :)

Disappointed to see that 6 months later this bug still exists. Expose used to be a stellar feature of OS X - it was perfect in its 10.5 form... now it's nearly unusable.

True that.
I like Snow Leopard. I want to develop for snow leopard with the new API:s (Grand Central Dispatch etc.)
I want to save space on my drive with the new space saving features.
I want to be able to use Exchange on my home laptop with all the benefits for e-mail and calendaring.

I just can't f*king stand the broken Exposé.
The code is there, just do a copy paste from the Leopard code base and add a checkbox for the Preferences pane. Heck even make it an optional "hotfix" download. I don't even care if it's buggy.

Please?

I doubt they will. This is an enhancement to them! :)

From the Snow Leopard page on Apple.com
Exposé is refined and more convenient. It’s now integrated in the Dock, so you can just click and hold an application icon in the Dock and all the windows for that application will unshuffle so you can quickly change to another one. Exposé also has a whole new look. Windows are displayed in an organized grid, making it even easier to find what you’re looking for. And stacks — Dock items that give you fast access to a folder of files — are now scrollable, so you can easily view all items. You can also navigate through folders in a stack to see all the files inside it.

Solution Found: Thanks to Hamis92

A solution has been found to the Expose problem:

First of all - sorry to bump up this old thread! Don't know if there's still demand for this, but here's what I did.

I also didn't like the new Snow Leopard Exposé. I tried installing the old Dock.app from a working installation of Leopard, but that obviously didn't work, so I kept thinking...

The key to the solution is taking the Dock.app from a Snow Leopard beta which did not yet have the new Exposé (10A261 for example). You can extract it from the install disc using Pacifist. Then you just replace the Dock using these instructions:

And there you have it - old-school Exposé right in Snow Leopard. This version of the Dock also has the neat "Assign to Space" feature, and the old white Dock menus. Everything works as far as I can tell.

Thanks Hamis!

It is wonderful having the Old Expose back.

For all those who reverted to the classic expose - how is the performance? Is it less jerky than the new one?

I'd imagine so.

Thanks.

It is smooth. I've noticed some weirdness if there are minimized windows, but other than that it is really nice having the Old Expose back.

So, with the 10A261 Exposé you need to avoid using Exposé with minimized windows. I've tested it a couple times and if you have a minimized window Exposé reverts back to the Current Snow Leopard Exposé style with everything arranged in a grid but there isn't any blue outline around the windows. This will continue even after you remove the minimized window but the 10A261 Exposé response can be brought back by restarting the computer.

Amazing really, gonna try that out asap.

I am CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVING smoothness Expose again, really. Apple took it from SL with force, now we can get it back ourselves. :p

THANK YOU FOR THE FILE AND THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DID GUYS.

Snow Leopard's Exposé was a big improvement over the original - do not expect Apple to revert change's to accommodate people who cannot use their Mac properly.

"properly"?? so people were using their Mac's improperly before? what a ridiculous perspective

Sigh... Shodan obviously is one of those people who feels that as long as he likes a feature, everyone must.

I want apple to give us the option of using the old Leopard behavior or the new behavior. Shodan and others like him want everyone to do it his way (maybe he's Steve Jobs in disguise).

Sadly, after this much time of Snow Leopard being out, I don't see Apple repairing Expose like they did with the dock and returning the list view. They're too occupied with iOS.
