I got a new macbook pro and it came with ilife '08. I was using idvd and looking through the themes and saw some old themes that were grayed out. I clicked on one and the menu said I could install from the leopard disc so I inserted the disk but the installer says I need idvd 7.0 or greater which I have! Can I not install old themes on idvd '08? Thanks

Hmm, interesting, I was able to access and use the legacy themes without issue. There should be no reason to have to install anything from the Leopard disk. I would try reinstalling iDVD.

well the themes are in /Library/Application Support/Apple/iDVD arent they? i cant remember as i removed them to save space. you could use Pacifist to search for the themes which are folders and install them off the 2nd install DVD.

I had the same problem when I inserted the disk so I downloaded them via the Software Update. Unfortunately it's a 300MB+ file so it's a lot of time if you only want one theme. I wish there was a way to download individual files :(.

That means that all of your software is up to date. Software Update does not automatically list iDVD 1, 2 etc. because it is not necessary, it's an add-on/plug-in so you need to install the update manually. Just click on the Old iDVD theme you want to use and it will automatically start Software Update and add the iDVD theme pack to the list. Hope I helped.

Hi Jelly,

I tried it but was still unsuccessful. Currently, I have the ff themes:
7.0, 6.0, 5.0, and Old Themes

Only "Old Themes" are greyed out. And when I choose Software Update (Download Now, Download Later), still the message says that the setting is current.

Anyhow, thanks again for your time to reply!!

Hi all,,, I don't suppose someone has a working link or copy of the 'extra content/old themes' anymore?
