OLD iMac blue DVD drive

I have a question. My macmini (2nd gen) dvd drive forever ago. I aquired on old iMac for free that doesn't boot or anything. I was wondering if I try to take the dvd drive out and put it in my macmini if it would fit and run.

Has anyone tried it?
