i'm sure this is a common problem but i have no idea what to do.

i have a graphite imac g3, slot loading. powercut yesterday and now when i start up it goes to a grey screen with a flashing folder and question mark.

    any help greatly appreciated.

You need to "re bless" the start up disc.

Boot from the OS CDs then reselect the HD as startup disc. Then restart the iMac.

From memory, I think you need a system reinstall.

However, a quick search tells me you may be able to boot from your system discs, (put disc in, power off then on and hold down "c"), then run Disk Utility from the installer menu. You may have corrupted a directory or two.
