Got the new 12.9" on Wednesday from AT&T. Been too busy to mess much with it.

My issue is that I set it up and it is not registering the cellular network. My old IPP 2018 is still listed under the devices I use on my account. Weird thing is, If I go to the upgrade your device page, it shows the new IPP.

Just wondering if anyone has successfully self helped and overridden the old iPad on their account to get the new one to connect?

Did you contact AT&T and tell them about the problem?

The last time I upgraded iPads on AT&T, I almost missed a small note in the package with instructions on how to activate the new device. Can't remember if I had to call a number or go to a specific webpage to activate. Either way, the activation process was automated. I didn't need to talk to a CSR.

Just got off the phone with support.

I am supposed to be activated through e-sim.They can’t activate my new one through the e-sim. Gotta drop by a store and get a physical sim now.

Agent saïd she’s never seen this before and her supervisor said he hadn’t seen it before, either.

odd.

It's supposed to activate on eSIM. That's actually nice since it leaves the Nano SIM slot available for travel SIM, etc.

Just a thought, try transferring the plan to the eSIM via Settings - Cellular Data.

Cellular Data tab only takes me to the AT&T screen and no matter what choice you make, it says you “can’t activate, call AT&T”.

I stopped by an AT&T kiosk in the mall here. They popped in a sim and all is good. The old iPad listed on my Account immediately disappeared and the new one appeared. Full 5Ge(lol) bars.

Best part of this is I found out I am a FAN member through my workplace and get a service discount. All these years and I didn’t know. Sigh.

I have had this issue with the last 3 iPads I’ve purchased from ATT. For whatever reason, I’ve had to go get physical SIM cards for each one.
