Alright. So I've got an old iPhone 3G. Screen is cracked, LCD busted, phone is garbage. There are, however, several pictures of my dead grandfather on there. So my girlfriend goes crazy and convinces herself that, even though I can't even see the better portion of the screen, that I have hidden information on this phone. Well, she punches in the wrong passcode god knows how many times, and now it's locked out. Is there any way to get just the photos off of this thing? I'm almost 100% certain that it hasn't been upgraded past iOS 3.x as I got a 4 very close to launch day. Any help would be appreciated.

How long does the phone say you have to wait before it allows you to key in the password?

It doesn't. It says, "Disabled". That's why I'm asking here.

This doesn't help. I am not going to restore the phone.

How long is the phone disabled for (there should be a timer if disabled)?
I don't think any of the file browser tools will work on a jailbroken "disabled" iPhone.
If the disabled timer is for a very long time, there is a tool to remove the "disable" on the 3G. Once the disable is removed, there are methods available to remove the password, but I think an older iOS is required.

I'm an early adopter, so this thing hasn't been upgraded to anything past 3.x. If you know the names of some of the tools, I'd be grateful.

You can dump the NAND and brute force the encryption of the device if its a 4 digit PIN code in under half an hour. Since this is an iPhone 3G, you can do this.
If it was a 4 digit alphanumerical password, it would take a day, and if it was a 6 digit alphanumerical password it would take a month.

This process is probably out of your legue if you ask here, but it is possible.

I don't know if the moderators would like this to be discussed here, as it is far from illegal to be doing this to your own device, it is very easy to adopt to do very illegal things with such forensic tools.
