I was just wondering if anyone is like me and holds onto and uses an older iPod for no particular reason.

I currently have a touch, a 2nd gen shuffle and a 1st gen mini that I revived by adding a new battery and cf card. Perhaps it's the simplicity or maybe just the form factor causes me to keep it around. The mini was one of my favorite iPod designs as the nanos that replaced it always felt too small in my hand. It also got rid of the mirrored, too easy to scratch back which I wish apple would implement for all iPods. As much as I love everything the touch can do, there are times when the simple greyscale interface of the mini makes much more sense.

So I was just wondering if anyone here still uses an older ipods for similar reasons and misses the simplicity of the greyscale iPods.

Yup! Still using a 5GB first generation iPod daily. I love it. It's so phat.

I put a new battery in it too, and it's always in a hard case so there aren't any scratches on the metal back!
