Friend's looking for an AirPort card - not AirPort Express but the original one. I know I used to know a shop that specialised in heritage Mac stuff but can't find it in my current bookmarks.

Any tips on where to buy, please?

Only place I've seen these on is eBay, but they are REALLY expensive for a second hand part(up to £100). In some models you also need to buy a caddy (another £15) to attach them to the logic board.

Although ascetically pleasing, I don't think they are worth the money for a 11Mbps connection. You would be better off with an ethernet to wireless converter, or a Belkin USB Wi-Fi dongle if you need the portability (avoid the D-Link ones).

Not for me but for an un-computerate (illcomputerate?) friend. He doesn't want stuff trailing off his machine, so an AirPort seems the thing. But thanks for the suggestion - if it were for myself I'd take it.

I would check out macofalltrades.com, they usually get older Mac's and older parts or I would always check out ebay.

Thanks very much. I have an idea of the price now.

I actually just bought a classic Airport card from a friend for a really good price but previously used a D-Link DWL-G122 dongle, which was really good and the 3rd party s/w was good too.

I'd recommend it, I also have one for sale now too, lol.
