Hi guys,

I was just wondering, does an old extension power cable that came with Macbook Air 13" from 2013 also work with the new MBP 16"?

If you are talking about this cable, then yes. They have not changed it in many years, as the list of compatible devices shows.

That's indeed what I was talking about. Thanks for the response and good to hear it works with MBP 16 as well.

Remember the good old days where you used to get one of these in the box with the laptop?

I still use mine every day, I genuinely can't remember which laptop its from or how old it is.

Yes. And I also remember throwing dozens of these out in our office. People very seldom carry them since the charger comes with the duckhead plug which is much more compact.

IN the UK we don't have that duckhead folding plug which is nice and compact.

Mine are from my 2009 and 2012 Unibody MBPs. Does anyone know why they stopped including those?

I don't know that Apple made an official statement about the cords. But, given what I have seen most of these never left the box or are stuck in a back closet. I have 4 or 5 of them from various MacBooks in my gear closet, and almost never carry one with me.

So they cost money and end up in the waste stream more than they are used. Both are good reason to not ship these with the system.

I'm a bit surprised that they're so under utilized though. I always pack mine, but I also would probably have an excessive number of them sitting around had they kept bundling them. As it is, the one I carry with me is over 10 years old and doing fine.
