I have three older Dell Monitors that run 1680 x 1050 that I use for work connected to a HP Docking Station and they all work. I would like to connect two of them to my new M1 Mac Mini but so far have been unable to get both working. The first monitor is connected Display Port to DVI through my Caldigit TS3 + with no issue. I am trying to connect the second monitor HDMI to DVI and can’t get that to work. I have tried a Cable Matters HDMI to DVI cable with no luck. I also tried the Apple HDMI to DVI adapter to standard DVI Cable and get the same results. In both instances the monitor is detected but the display gets a message that it cannot display this video mode. Under the Tech Specs it says that HDMI supports up to 4K Resolution at 60 hz. It does not say there is a minimum resolution. It also says it supports DVI Output using HDMI to DVI adapter sold separately. ha e tried plugging and unplugging as well as booting with and without it connected but all attempts produce the same result

Worked with Apple Support today and they do not have a resolution for this yet. They are aware of issues with HDMI connectivity. The Senior Specialist that I was working with said he was aware of 16 documented cases similar to mine. They had me download an Apple Capture utility to gather information from my Computer and have a case opened that I should get feedback about in a couple days.

Apparently it is a fail in the HTMI to DVI cable use with the mac mini...tried it with a bunch of monitors and no go.

Not sure if its firmware or software. I tried multiple cables. I am supposed to get feedback from them Friday
Met again with Apple and they wanted to reset a couple plists to see if that would resolve my issue but the plists they were looking for did not exist on my Mac mini. They said they are working to include some fixes for display issues in a future release but did not provide any kind of timeframe

Received an e-mail from Apple Support asking if 11.1 had fixed my issued and when I reported that it had not they want to setup a time to gather more data and try something else. Will be meeting with them tomorrow.

I ended up returning my M1 Mac mini for a couple reasons. The inability to use more than one monitor without resorting to a display link connection was one of those reasons. I won't be updating this issue any more
