I'm going to be placing an order soon for a new 27" iMac. I was originally planning on buying 16gb of RAM to upgrade from 8-24gb. I am getting rid of my old 2009 iMac which I upgraded to 8gb of RAM a few years ago. It has two 4gb 1067 DDR3 ram chips in.

Would it make sense to utilize these old RAM chips to save a little money or would that RAM be such a step down compared to the 2400mhz DDR4 that I really shouldn't think about using them.

Thanks.

They wouldn't even fit. And no, you can't use slower RAM than spec'd.
