Hi,

Does anyone have the version 21.0 of the Facebook ipa?

Since updating to 22.0 the banner adds at the bottom have made the app unusable for me. I end up clicking on Them when trying to scroll or access the menu etc. tried a few from the appcake website and used ifunbox to install but they fail so I assume there's something wrong with the files.

I've tried Adblock but that hasn't stopped the adds.

And I updated the one I have on iTunes.

Anyone have or know where I can download a version of the 21.0 ipa that actually works?

Thanks.

There are about 15 different links for version 21 on Appcake.

To the self-styled anti-piracy police: I buy my apps, but if an update messes things up, I know where to easily get the last working version...

Yes. I tried about 5. Non of which would install via either iTunes or iFunbox. Since I don't have accounts with the hosts of the files they all take an age to download (a 50mb file took 25 minutes on a 100mb connection). And I don't have hours to spend sat there downloading files that may or may not work. So was hoping someone had a working one or knew of one before I waste hours of my life downloading files that won't install.

I don't have appcake installed for the piracy police. I just want to download an older version of a free app because he latest update is awful.

Edited to add. I didn't have appsync installed. Installed that and worked first time with ifunbox but it hasn't gotten rid of the banner adds. So looks like I'm stuck with them.

I thought I read on Reddit a few days back that this was an issue with the Facebook++ tweak or another of that dev's tweaks...I'm running the latest Facebook with only FBNoNeedMessenger, and I'm not seeing any ads beyond the occasional one in my feed.

Might want to check what tweaks you're using.

I do have that installed. Will remove it now. I only use it for the in app messenger.

Fantastic. Thanks. That seems to have worked. I just installed FBNoneedmessenger uninstalled Facebook++.

Wonder what changed. I've used that for a while now and the ads only started appearing a few days back.

You're welcome!

FBNoNeedMessenger isn't the best tweak I've ever used; occasionally bugs do show up where it doesn't work quite right, so I'm not sure I'd recommend it to a heavy user of FB's messaging setup--there might be better options out there. But for a casual user who only gets messages once in a while, it's been awesome.

And not sure exactly when the dev changed Facebook++, but there was a bit of a rant thread on the jailbreak sub-reddit about it a few days back. For anyone who has that tweak and wants to keep it, I'd assume that some of the ad blocking tweaks will take care of the problem.

What are you running iTunes on?

Reason I ask is OS X has a default behaviour of putting the old ipa file in the trash. If it's there you can delete the new file and restore the older version to iTunes.

Thanks. Yeah I only use it to message my cousin who lives in a different country and that's only a few times a week maybe, if that. So I'm sure it will be fine. If I used it more I'd (begrudgingly) install the messenger app.

Can you link me to the reddit please? I have googled but can't find it.

I tried pretty much all the adblock software from cydia and nothing worked. I wouldn't have thought about the tweak I just assumed Facebook had pulled yet another jerk move. So really thankful for you mentioning it.

Thanks. I run it on Windows 7 and i believe windows does send the redundant ipa's to the trash but I generally do a bit of a spring clean of my PC once a month (run all virus and maleware checkers, do any updates etc) which includes CCcleaner, which deletes the recycle bin and trust me, I did this on Sunday just gone.

This was the thread I'd read about it in:
http://www.reddit.com/r/jailbreak/comments/2t0p4j/question_where_the_hell_did_these_ads_start/

It does look like he's got a paid version of the tweak now to cover his time, talking about the fact that since FB updates every two weeks, keeping the tweak function does require a significant amount of work. His comment on that is in this thread, and he's posted about it several other times since on Reddit.

Thanks. Will go read.

Thing is the tweak isn't updated every month to reflect FB releasing updates to the app. I can't remember the app being updated in the last few months. So it's bull.

Plus as they are saying over there. Give people a heads up. I wouldn't have thought the tweak was adding the adds. And reading that neither did a few others.

The dev is also saying to a lot of posters 'email me and I'll remove the adds'. Which is unfair to those who pay to have them removed.

I have no problem buying tweaks and always upgrade if there's an option to remove ads And had there been an option in the app or had the app even made it known that's where the ads were coming from then I'd have upgraded but since I didn't know it was the app and to upgrade I have to email him, then donate instead of just buying in cydia I don't think I'll bother.
