Anyone have an older notebook that want to get rid of? Preferably as a donation to a poor college student.

Nothing serious, run iPhoto, Safari, that's about it.

I've got nothing... but you should check craigslist, people give away stuff all the time there

You probably won't get a working computer for free. Particularly from strangers.

Airport? Combo/Superdrive? Any version of OS X? Battery that holds a charge for more than five minutes? Condition?
If none of these really matter, then you might be in luck.

Airport would be nice. Everything else doesn't matter.

While I appreciate the offer (I really do) I'm not sure how that would help me. Perhaps the **** would be helpful to start fires with? I'm not sure.

I have seen someone give away both 17" and 20" ACD (the blueberry ones) on Craigslist. I even called the guy because it was local and was going to pick them up. I decided not to because I really had no use for the external displays but the point remains, people do give stuff away.

Also, it wasn't too long ago were a MR member was selling a bunch of iBook Clamshells for like $100 -- definitely would have suited your needs.
