I'm still using My quicksilver g4 733 and running protools 7 w/Mbox2.
Just sold my UAD card and started using the focusrite liquid mix. Somtimes craps out during a bounce but with some tweaking I can get 'er done. Maybe one day I can afford a new comp.

My 2005 iBook's my main computer :)

Same here.

Though it's kind of odd, the age of my computers.

At first, I would have to say that my eMac is my oldest computer that I use daily, since the model was introduced in April 2005, and my iBook's model in July 2005.

However, upon checking the build dates, my iBook was built sometime in January of 2006, and my eMac in April of 2006.

So technically, my iBook is my oldest machine, even though it's a newer model.

My PB is better than both of those computers even though it is older. But it was $3000

The most-used computer in my house is an iBook G3 @ 700MHz. Sees nearly constant use during the peak hours of the day. Battery still lasts over 3.5 hours and it run plenty fast with 384MB RAM and Panther!

Otherwise, here at school I use my PowerBook G4 pretty much daily. I'm typing this on it as we speak! Lately, due to some permissions hiccups with my Core Duo iMac, this this has been far outperforming it for normal tasks. Hoping to get that cleared up in the near future though. :)

2 years ago I was using a 500MHz TiBook as my everyday computer, so I certainly know what it's like to carry old technology far beyond it's estimated lifespan!

My Unibody macbook pro...though I haul out my old Lime Green iMac whenever I go home on vacation just for nostalgia purposes. :D

iMac DV/SE, G3 400mhz, 1GB RAM, 320GB hard drive.

Runs 10.4 Server for gits and shiggles, but it has its uses as it's the only machine in the house I keep running 24/7. Never crashes, works well with monitoring external stuffs. :)

had the exact same computer... it died about a year ago. even had a little cry when it went.. i was SO attached to that thing, we did everything together.... :(

Thanks to getting into school in Philadelphia and living in Seattle, I have sold most of my computers.

Used to have 4 powermacs (range from 700mhz to dual 1GHZ), a cube and a mac mini 1.66 CD. Also had a gaming PC.

Now I am just down to the stellar pieces. MBP 2.4 Penryn Multitouch and a 2.8x8 Octo Mac Pro.

Still have a HP laptop, but that I have delegated just to the girlfriend. But of course now she wants a mac!

Well, I recently sold a 2005 PowerBook and that was my main computer, but that was just replaced with a new UMB. My oldest machine is my replacement iMac sent to me from Apple in Nov 08. I miss the PB a little but with how much I do that is just too much for it, it wasn't feasible to use anymore.

Oldest desktop I use is a Cube 450
Oldest laptop I use is a Powerbook Lombard

In power maybe. "Better" is always a matter of opinion.

Exactly.

Cassie is right, my powermac (800mhz) is easily 1.5x faster than my powerbook (1.5ghz), at nearly half the clock speed. both have 5.4krpm hdds and >1gb RAM

Don't ask me why :D

ok i have used macs for a LONG time.. but this DOESNT make sense..

what operating systems are they running??

Both run Leopard.
The PM is Dual 800mhz

I don't know, it confuses me as well. It's definitely faster though.

oh well the fact that its a dual core might mean something... who knows lol! benchmark them things!

desktops generally are faster though.... maybe because the laptop uses a laptop CPU?? maybe the GPU is slower? the RAM might be slower too.. who knows lol

Pretty sure having dual processors is the answer. Mac OS X has gotten really good at taking advantage of dual processors.

October 2003 17" powerBook w/1.5gb RAM, 80gb drive.

Runs Leopard, albeit in a clunky way; YouTube sputters; many modern games don't run. Great for watching DVD's, though.

PB 2400c/240

My weapon of choice is still my Japanese 2400c/240. It is upgraded to 80MB of RAM and 80GB HDD, custom battery (real 8 hrs!), loaded with Mac OS 9 & Linux, and PC Cards for Wifi, Ethernet/ Modem, USB, and FW.

Am often on weeks or months long trips to rough terrain or the 3rd world and need something light, reliable, indestructible, and not theft worthy for writing and adhoc *nix system administration. Though back home, with civilisation, am mostly using my MP and MBA.

I've got the exact same model except with an 80G hard drive. I use it every day without any problems (though I had to replace the hard drive twice). The processor is slow on YouTube streams, so the videos are a little choppy. I am going to buy a new iMac and keep this as a secondary machine upstairs. It's kind of classy looking I think, and exemplifies Apple's spirit of innovation.
