2007 MacBook pro. Upgraded 4gb ram a while ago. Hard drive crashed. Upgraded to 250gb.
Logic board crashed 16 days before Apple Care expired.
Optical drive is beginning to not work.
Only one or two programs can run at a time. Photoshop cannot run alongside Lightroom. Sooooooooo slow.
Waiting for the employee portal to show up with rMBP so I can upgrade!

Early 2008 "Classic" 15" 2.4 Penryn MBP, all original barring two new fans. Two years in the Middle East, just over two years in the tropics, hardly ever been shut down, only for updates and travel just runs 24/7, likely north of 35K running hours or about 75 cents a day :p

Is that even safe? :O

----------

I had a late 2008 MacBook. I just upgraded to the 2012 MacBook Pro.

Just runs and runs, it`s on right now downloading data, I think the fact it`s on all the time is what preserves it as it has been subjected to very few restarts and temp around the 60C-70C mark constantly. I fully expect this Mac to continue on for another 2-4 years, if not more :p

That's insane :O

Got 2007 2.4ghz Santa Rosa chip Macbook Pro. Upgraded ram to 4GB and put in 500GB drive. Only really felt the lag with Lion, was quite fast with Snow Leopard.

Had to change the logic board out of warranty because of the faulty nvidia gpu. I've ordered a new retina macbook pro, 5 years use of the old machine is quite good! I'm going to be turning it into a mac server and make even more use of it.

Late 2006, 15", keyboard replaced, taped up on the sides with blue electrical tape since I can't get the screws in (don't have any screwdrivers at hand, the ones I used broke ), and some chipping due to Apple mishandling when they replaced the SuperDrive and wouldn't take responsibility for it, and left fan torn out because of the chipping that destroyed it by getting lodged in due to that repair. On its second dead battery.

But I still use it.

Just heard they discontinued the non retinas, so I thought I'd check out a refurbished MBP. I couldn't pull the trigger. Just not worth $1400. My 2009 MBP still works fine, and if something breaks, all the parts re individually replaceable. Here's to another 4.5+ years like the others on this thread!

I am using a 2010 2.4Ghx Ma book pro and my friend has a 2008 core2duo 2.4Ghz alu macbook (not pro). with 4Gb ram and has no intension of updating to maverick or replacing.

Not true !

Apple still sells the 2012 MBP so does Best Buy. :p

interesting. can you point a link to the apple website where they list the computer for sale? I could not find them and there was the macrumors.com story saying they were discontinued.

I've got a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro, running Mavericks 10.9.1, and I upgraded the ram from 4GB to 8GB last year.

Still running great, but the 320GB hard drive is pretty full... I find myself deleting unnecessary things quite a bit, these days.

Also, just starting a couple months ago, my system will unexpectedly restart. From what I can tell, it's either a logic board issue, or something to do with the 'automatic graphics switching' feature.

Now, I'm just wondering if I should hold out with the hard drive and upgrade this summer, or just say screw it and get a new hard drive and matching external for backup. Leaning towards the latter.

Cheers,

DCBass

Older than my...

Early 2006 MacBookPro1,1 2G ram 2 GHz Intel Core Duo. Replaced original drive w/500GB HD left speaker, rt fan, wifi card with 802.11n, missing screws, missing rubber feet w/felt feet from Home Depot.

Viva :apple::cool:

2008 MBP. It's been dropped, overheated, spilled on and barely cleaned but it just keeps going, every day!

Two things have become apparent over the years, the disc drive sometimes won't read DVD's (?) and the battery, though still taking a full charge, swells up so by the end of day so much it nearly makes the touch pad inoperable.

Only thing I've done is upgraded the memory from 4Gb to 8Gb.

I see there's from this thread there are a crapload of MBP's like mine still plugging along, bummer! I seriously wish mine would finally die just so I could have a legitimate excuse to buy a brand new one. If it's still alive come next Spring I'll finally trade it in and get a Broadwell machine :)

I had one just like yours and decided to sell it while it was working rather than wait for it to die. You get to upgrade sooner and at lower cost overall if the old MBP is still operable and sellable ;)

The oldest MacBook pro still in use is the oldest MacBook pro that exists, which is the 2006 MacBook Pros.

Stop it! I'm already itching for a new one :)
