Oldest version mini which will run Lion

What would be the earliest version of the mini that would run Lion effectively. I'm thinking of adding a mini to my iMac and MacBook Pro and will probably buy used if I can ever get enough posts to get into the classifieds. 😀

The Mid-2007 Mini will run it without major modifications, but the 2006 models can run it with a CPU upgrade and some file altering.
