pretty neat but at the same time, I no longer really care intensely.

I will probably get it as an upgrade from mini7, but I love the mini and I'm glad I didn't just wait it out.

Price increase is always a real possibility too, since it's Apple + tariffs and such.

PLEASE, PLEASE, be 120hz. I have a Mini 7 and an 11” M1 Pro, the Mini feels like a pig next it.
It’s the only 60hz screen out of all my devices and it drives me crazy although I love the form factor.

"Keep the price the same"? Have you turned on the news lately?
well, Apple has been putting off OLED for the iPad Mini (and other LCD devices in the lineup for one of two reasons…
- cost
- technical hurdles

Either Apple is just now figuring out how OLED screens work, or the displays have come down in price to the point where it meets their expected margins.

Took way too long honestly when other companies been using OLED for years

I’ll believe it when I see it.

But great news if true. I don’t care about promotion but I hope this OLED is brighter. Doesn’t need to be 1000nits. Just brighter than it is now and at least viewable on a cloudy day outside.

Should have been 120Hz and OLED now. While they are at it, they need to ditch Touch ID on the mini and use Face ID instead because I hate using it when I've been using Face ID as my primary method for many years.

This plagues the iPad mini so badly. I congratulate all the people who can’t see it. I can’t unsee it. And I don’t mind 60Hz displays as much as most tech snobs. But the jelly scrolling is just horrific to my eyes.
I'm fortunately blind to it… the thing I don't get is, why did this issue suddenly come up when they went with the new no-home-button design? The chief differences in the screen are round corners and slightly fewer pixels on the x-axis (for some inexplicable reason). I never heard of this problem on the old screen.

An iPad mini is not a phone, and doesn't fit in your pants pocket. And as you say, it's not ergonomically suited for 1-handed use.

While I definitely wouldn't pay the rumoured ~US$2500 for an Apple foldable, I would consider paying say $1600 (which is in line with what Android foldables cost).
I hold my mini in one hand, carry it in my back pocket, and use it like a phone connected to the bluetooth in my car for making and receiving calls. When away from the car I use AirPods. It's linked with my phone via NumberSync. I know I dont represent everyone but for me personally I use my mini the same basic way I use my phone.
