If Apple would let us run CarPlay on the Mini, it would be a great solution for those of us with Teslas, Rivians, and General Motors vehicles.
Thats how I use my iPad Mini in my 2016 Ram 1500. 120Hz, FaceID and always on display would be awesome!!!

I ❤️ FaceID on my iPhone, but PLEASE NO NOTCH!

(I’m sticking with my M1 MacBook Air because it doesn’t have the distracting notch.
The Mac's notch is invisible almost all the time. It's hidden in the task bar of any fullscreen application.

completely off topic, but I have this image in my mind of some poor smuck at apple whose job is to read these enlightened comments and produce a report for marketing and product development - oy vey

Apple is so backwards. No OLED on the standard iPad but let's put it on the Mini!
The standard iPad is inferior to the iPad Mini. Size doesn’t always correlate to quality. The standard iPad is also priced lower than the iPad Mini. The Mini is closer to an iPad Air than a standard iPad. I hope you understand the iPad lineup a little better now.

I think there is room in this world for both an iPad mini and an iPad mini pro with oled+120hz. If they manage to put it in the iPhone 17-line up there is no reason it shouldn’t be able to have it.
I’ve been saying for years that I want an iPad Mini Pro, and every time they release a new iPad Mini, it’s a big disappointment. Especially the latest one. It’s like Apple doesn’t want to sell it, so they do the bare minimum recycled parts version, and then forget about it for 3-4 years.

Please make a new Mini more comfortable to hold. The sharply squared-off edges of the aluminum frame on my older Mini are not comfortable to grip for long periods, which is why I bought a Kindle for long-format reading.

The Mini has a slightly better display.

Everything else is the same besides the ridiculous price tag for a Mini!

I’ve tried the Mini in two different generations, but i really can’t see the point of its form factor. Way too small to be really productive for my needs (your mileage may vary).
Nevertheless if they update it with an OLED display, why not to use an M-series SoC, instead of an A-series ?

Isn't the iPad Air in a much bigger desperate need of an OLED than the mini? It's a big expensive tablet that's still using an ancient technology display, meanwhile mini is cheaper and probably less likely used for watching media.
It might be there for the ~10% of people sensitive to PWM… 😉

iPad mini is easily my fav iPad I’ve used to date. Perfectly portable ( or larger than a sketchpad), completely capable (even my iPad mini 6 has given me no performance issues/concerns). Paired with Pencil 2, it has completely redefined my daily workflow as a creative director. I’m all for OLED improvements and waterproofing is a bonus. I just hope they keep this perfect form factor in the mix, especially when their foldable land, sucking all of the oxygen out of the room.

i did this on my old Ford Galaxy 2001. But you need the cellular iPad mini

No. The task bar is black regardless. The only time the notch is visible is if you're on your desktop. And if it bothers you that much, dark wallpaper will hide it there too.

I know what you're talking about. As soon as you actually run anything full screen, the taskbar becomes black and it's invisible. If you used black wallpaper that would eliminate it from the desktop too.
But even when it is visible, I don't understand why it bothers people.

The menu bar is translucent in Desktop mode but black when using an app?!

Now I know why iPadOS 26 is such a mess with inconsistent frosting from app-to-app and font sizes that are too big.

Apple doesn't care about minor aesthetics anymore.
